Managed Hosting & Maintenance for Business Websites and Applications
Managed hosting, website maintenance and application environments for businesses. Agree on updates, monitoring, backups and support for your environment.
Request a QuoteWho is this for?
For a business that needs an agreed operator for its website or application after launch. Maintenance can cover a new delivery or an existing environment following a technical review, including a Linux environment on the customer’s own provider account.
A managed environment, not just server space
Northerd scopes hosting and maintenance around the needs of your business. Alongside hosting, the agreement can cover updates, monitoring, backups and technical support. We start by reviewing the current environment and dependencies. This is not an automatically provisioned shared-hosting package or a promise of unlimited maintenance.
Website maintenance
A website agreement can cover hosting, HTTPS certificate management, CMS updates, availability monitoring and backups. For WordPress, we also review plugin licences and update compatibility. Content editing, design changes and new functionality are separated from technical maintenance. Domain registration and email services are not included automatically.
Managed application environments
A web application may depend on a database, background jobs, storage and external services as well as a server. We define which components and dependencies are maintained. Initial setup can include deployment procedures, secrets management, logging and monitoring. Ongoing maintenance does not mean unlimited application development or a guarantee that third-party APIs will remain available.
Maintenance on your own server
We can also scope maintenance for a Linux server or cloud environment on your own provider account. There is no automatic requirement to migrate everything to Northerd. We first review access, configuration, supported software versions and maintenance prerequisites. You can retain provider billing and account ownership while agreeing on responsibilities and administrative access.
Initial setup and recurring maintenance are separate
Migration, environment setup and remediation of existing issues are estimated separately from ongoing maintenance. Recurring pricing depends on the services maintained, capacity, update requirements and agreed support. The proposal distinguishes maintenance work, server and storage costs, traffic, licences and additional work. Pricing and any usage limits are confirmed before the service starts.
Maintenance scope to agree
- Websites, applications and servers within scope
- Updates, maintenance windows and change approval
- Monitoring coverage, alerts and responsible contacts
- Backup schedules, retention and restore testing
- Support hours, response arrangements and additional work
- Account control, documentation and portability
Before you decide
Before work starts, know what you are buying, how it is priced and who will maintain the result.
When is support available and how are incidents handled?
Support channels, service hours, severity levels and response targets are agreed in writing. A response target is not a guaranteed resolution time. Round-the-clock on-call support, an uptime guarantee or an SLA is not included automatically. Customer contacts, provider responsibilities and maintenance windows are also defined before onboarding.
What is backed up and how is recovery verified?
We agree on backup coverage, frequency, retention, storage location and restore-test intervals. Recovery-time and acceptable-data-loss targets are defined alongside them. The existence of a backup alone does not prove recoverability. The proposal states whether restore tests and actual recovery work are included in the recurring fee or charged separately.
Where is data stored and who can access it?
The hosting environment and locations of backups and logs are selected against your requirements and documented in the agreed scope. External providers, administrative access, permissions and responsibilities for personal-data processing are reviewed before onboarding. Storage in Finland or the EU is not promised without checking the selected setup.
Can I move to another provider later?
We agree on control of domains and service accounts, data exports, documentation and access handover. Ending the service includes agreed migration timing, any migration fees and deletion arrangements for data and backups. The aim is to avoid unnecessary dependency on one operator; migration work is not automatically part of the recurring fee.

- Your existing website or application and hosting provider
- Software, databases and external dependencies
- Acceptable downtime and data loss for your business
- Required support hours and current backup arrangements
- Data location and processing requirements; do not send passwords through the form
