At Northerd (We Web Hosting), we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

How the contact form works

The form forwards your name, email address, project type and message to Northerd by encrypted SMTP. The form service does not store message content in its database. Short-lived identifiers, including a keyed hash of the IP address, prevent abuse and duplicate submissions. Identifiers expire within an hour; expired records are removed on the next valid submission request. The delivered email is used to handle your inquiry.

You may also provide a project-specific detail and a preferred timeline. These answers are included only in the inquiry email, not in usage counters or a message database. Answers hidden after changing project type are not submitted.

Website usage counters

Our own server counts home, work and contact page openings, contact-button and project-link clicks, and successful form submissions. The measurement database stores only the UTC day, a predefined event category and a count. No visitor IDs, cookies, page URLs, referrers or form content are stored in these counters. Browser measurement respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control settings. Counters cover 90 days; older entries are removed on the next event. The server processes the connection IP to route and limit requests, but does not add it to usage counters. Google Analytics is a separate service that starts with consent.

Remembering your language choice

When you use the language selector, we store only fi or en in your browser’s local storage. The root URL shows the Finnish homepage and /en the English homepage. A saved preference does not automatically redirect to another language. We do not use IP-based location detection. Direct language-specific links keep their own language and do not change your saved preference. Clearing this site’s local data removes the preference; language switching still works when storage is disabled, but the choice is not remembered.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site usage and traffic sources only with your consent. Analytics code is not loaded before acceptance or after rejection. Google receives information such as page views, browser and device details, and cookie-based identifiers. Our configured analytics events do not include form content. Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled in the tag configuration.

The consent choice is stored locally in your browser for 180 days. GA cookies (_ga and _ga_MDZJKWPSCW) are configured to expire within 180 days. This does not determine retention of server-side data in the Analytics account, which depends on account settings. Google may process data outside the EU/EEA under its processing terms.

Withdraw consent through Analytics settings in the footer by choosing Decline analytics. Collection is disabled, cookies for this measurement are deleted and the page reloads. Withdrawal does not delete information previously sent to Google. DNT or GPC privacy signals also block analytics when acceptance was saved earlier.
